Unexpected Inspiration for Living your Best Life

I love this photograph.

I decided to do some New Year’s cleaning and de-cluttering today and went through my stack of magazine clippings.  I’ve had this image for so many years …. I don’t even know how long I’ve had it! It’s followed me from house to house and usually ends up on my vision board or in my scrapbook.   It is my unexpected inspiration for living my best life.  I tore it out of an “Oprah” magazine and I believe it was taken on one of her trips to a girls’ school in Africa…but before she actually opened her own school.  (I don’t have a photographer name … I would love to know who actually took this photo).

I feel like this little girl’s entire world changed the minute she got this gift.  Looking at the expression in her eyes makes me want to cry to this day.

I see JOY in this photograph.  I see a whole world being opened up for one person by a very generous other person.  I see an amazing gift being given, beyond the material gift of the doll.

This photograph inspired me and my journey to become a transformational life and success coach.   It’s a big part of why I am building my business and why I am so committed to helping other women become confident, successful and empowered.

Someday I will give a young girl a gift just like this.  Perhaps it will be a doll or a toy, but my vision is for something more … a book, a classroom and an education.

Yes my mission is to become a millionaire, and yes I work very hard to achieve business success for myself and my clients.   Coaching women to discover and live their dreams, create better lives for themselves, become entrepreneurs and start their own businesses totally lights me up.  I love to help all kinds of women discover brave new worlds within themselves by stretching, expanding and reaching for something just a little bit bigger than where they’re at today.

But I have a second (secret) mission and it was inspired by this young girl.

Today is the first day of a brand new year, filled with all the possibilities of a clean slate and a fresh start.  I love January 1st and the forward momentum it brings but I wanted to take a moment today to reflect back and remember why I’m here.
