No Thanks, I Can Do It Myself

No Thanks I Can Do It Myself

No thanks, I can do it myself….have you ever said this

Oh my goodness, it’s been the ‘story’ of my life!

It’s taken me a long, long time to learn this … in fact, I think it’s the curse of the modern woman. We’re so good at what we do, so good at being really competent that we lose sight of the fact that we can go farther, faster and achieve more when we have support, teams and other people helping us.

I come by this honestly actually because it’s something that I hear in my family to this day. How about you? Is “do it myself” something that you grew up with or was valued in your family?

Women get the idea that if we don’t do everything ourselves, that somehow other people will get the wrong idea about us – that either we’re lazy, or incompetent or needy. In fact that couldn’t be further from the truth. When we say we’re going to do it all ourselves, we shut down from the best “supporter” out there – the Universe.

I also see this in creative women, who can be very controlling at the beginning of their careers and sometimes become micro-managers. It really isn’t pretty and actually dampens the whole spirit of what you want to accomplish. Not allowing collaboration can turn your creative ideas very stale very quickly. You don’t have all the answers (trust me on this one) and allowing your team or guides to help brings in a special element of magic that the Universe only provides when two like minded people are working together.

The most successful people I’ve met, the ones that people really wanted to work with – super A-list celebrities, big name designers, top level directors – were great collaborators. They welcomed input from other people and saw themselves as being supported by the team.

For a lot of my clients hiring a big team right out of the gate isn’t always financially possible, but it’s something that I encourage women to do as quickly as possible. Often the easiest place to start is at home – enlisting the help of your family instead of doing it all yourself.

Maybe your first team member will be a house cleaner who comes every two weeks, giving you the freedom to focus on your business, your family or your creative projects. You’ll be working at your higher-income earning projects and giving someone else a job at the same time. It’s a win-win situation and you’ll be paying it forward in life.

So take a minute today and ask yourself where do you need the most support in your life? Where are you saying ‘No thanks I can do it myself’ on a regular basis?

I’m here to help you.

My business, income and life changed when I got the high-level coaching support I needed. If you need that kind of support for your life, schedule a discovery session today and let’s talk!
